For me, a small compact knife is best as a survival knife. I prefer a straight blade with stainless steel material so it won't easily be destroyed or corroded. I recently bought an ESEE-6 plain black blade and I'm quite pleased with it. Although it may be a bit pricey for some, I love this knife - carbon 1095 steel blade with black colored powder coating makes the knife stunning and powerful to look at.
